BLUFFTON, SC, MARCH 21, 2026 — Health disparities are not abstract statistics. They are measurable. They are preventable. And they continue to impact families across South Carolina.
On Saturday, March 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, in collaboration with the Hilton Head–Bluffton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will host the Black Family Wellness Expo at Oscar Frazier Park in Bluffton. The event is free and open to the public.
African Americans in South Carolina continue to experience higher rates of hypertension, stroke, diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. Too often, these conditions go undetected until they become life-altering or life-threatening. Prevention is not optional — it is essential.
The Black Family Wellness Expo is designed to confront these realities directly by bringing preventive care, education, and community resources into one accessible setting.
The Expo will include:
Free screenings (PSA, blood pressure, diabetes/A1C, cholesterol)
Breast health education and information
Dental exams and oral health resources
CPR demonstration and AED training
Nutrition education and cooking demonstrations
Fitness activities and line dancing
Children’s book giveaways
Community health vendors and resource partners
Residents of Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend, take advantage of available screenings, and engage with healthcare professionals and community leaders committed to advancing health equity.
