The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated celebrated Friendship Month in November by strengthening the ties that bind. In support of the month’s themes, the chapter engaged in ‘paying it forward’ with Polaris Tech students to support nursing home patients and employees. After a student lesson about paying it forward, students/chapter members gave cards and donated socks to nursing home patients. The Membership Committee provided donuts and a card to the nursing home employees. The students, patients, and employees found it to be a rewarding and fulfilling experience- service and friendship on full display.
Our chapter also engaged in self-care, which included participating in hobbies, spending quality time with family, and enjoying time with our friends in the Savannah Chapter of The Links, Incorporated (brunch, game night). Finally, we honored our alumnae members with cards, hugs, and meals.
Our most fabulous retreat!
Day 1 - Our "Homecoming." - Kudos to Maria, and the Membership Committee for planning and executing such a great event! Thank you Doris for being such a gracious host and opening your lovely home to all of us. The food (Low Country boil) was delicious. The laughter, fun, and fellowship was just was we needed to start our chapter year. Maria, we loved our personalized bags!
Day 2 - Sharing - Congratulations to our president, Andrea and the Executive Committee for organizing and executing Day 2. Our chapter was on display from the time one entered the door! The presentations were informative throughout. The games and activities, beautiful venue, delicious food, fun and fellowship capped off our two-day retreat. The gift bags and Bundt cakes were a special treat! Absolutely a professional event!
We so enjoyed the 48th Southern Area Conference in Birmingham, Alabama! It was not only an opportunity to immerse ourselves in Linkdom activities, meetings, and service but also to meet and bond with other sister chapters.

This year's Black Family Wellness Expo was a success in large part to the assistance of the pastor and congregation of St. Stephen's AME Church in Hardeeville, SC. What better way for the Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated to show their appreciation than by attending morning worship with them, presenting them with a plaque, and a small donation. Thank you Pastor Vanessa Johnson for all of your help and your truly inspiring sermon!
After the service, several chapter sisters got together at a local restaurant for good times and fellowship.
What a wonderful Links in Pink Church Service at the Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Reverent Johnson and the congregation were thankful for our collaboration on this even. We also donated $500 to the church to support their missionary outreach.
The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated celebrated their first business meeting of 2024 donned in African attire. A great, informative meeting was had as they kicked off the New Year discussing service events planned by their five (5) facets and a small group membership activity.
January 18th was Vision Board With Friends! The theme for the vision board was "self-care." It was part of the Southern Area's G.E.M. (Graciously Elevating our Members) year long friendship activities. Chapter members met at the homes of two sisters (one in Hilton Head Island, SC and one in Pooler, GA) who were gracious to host this friendship/fellowship event. A great time was had by all who attended.
Always looking for ways and opportunities to bond, whether it is a service event (Walk for Healthy Living, Links in Pinks), or chapter business meetings, members of the Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated came together for a good old-fashioned pajama party and to attend a showing of The Color Purple at the SCAD Film Festival in Savannah, GA. They dubbed it an "Arts Friendship" activity. All agreed that they had an amazing day supporting the arts and being with each other.
The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated once again executed another successful chapter business meeting! Much was accomplished as they continue to plan and perfect service events for the coming year. Still exhibiting the friendship spirit that came out of the August Retreat, some sisters brought in their personal beverage mugs that were gifts from the Membership Committee (actually hand-made by Chanda Medlock)!.
Enjoy some moments with us!

The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated partnered with the "Pink Out" team at Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Hilton Head Island to address the disparities between breast cancer outcomes in our community versus other groups. Guests were encouraged to conduct monthly self exams and get annual mammograms. There was live music, food donations from local community businesses, representatives from Beaufort Memorial Hospital, and special recognition was given to breast cancer survivors. A wave of various shades of pink could be seen throughout the room, even being worn by the men and children.

The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated celebrated HBCU Month by wearing school tee shirts and other wearables featuring Historically Black Colleges and Universities. We are a chapter not only proud of our personal links to HBCUs but we also recognize other notables within our communities who have graduated from HBCUs, e.g., Oprah Winfrey (Tennessee State University), the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Morehouse College), astronaut Dr. Ronald McNair (North Carolina A&T University), inventor Lonnie Johnson (Tuskegee University), and Vice President Kamala Harris (Howard University).
It was the RETREAT of all RETREATS! It started with a "packing party" at Jan's beautiful home where gift bags were created for each chapter member, followed by a wonderful dinner topped off with a "Friends Who Serve" cake.
The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was indeed RETREAT Ready for an overnight weekend getaway event. It was (R)-Revitalizing, (E)-Energizing, (T)-Tantalizing, (R)-Relaxing, (E)-Enjoyable, (A)-Analytical, and (T)-Transformative with food, refreshments, games, line dancing, and a pajama party. While learning, we enhanced our goals to move forward with "Friendship First" always!
KUDOS to our Organizational Effectiveness and Membership Committees!

Our sisters were rocking it at the 47th Southern Area Conference in Charlotte, NC! What a wonderful way it was to meet with "sisters of like mind" who were "linked in friendship and committed in service!"
The 47th Southern Area Conference was a great opportunity to connect with old friends and make new friends! It was also a great opportunity for the sisters of the Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated to "wobble the night away" and "profile their green PJs."
The good times, comradery, and feelings of sisterhood continued at the 47th Southern Area Conference in Charlotte, NC!
What a wonderful day we had celebrating the South Carolina Links Day at the Capitol. All seven chapters of the state "showed up and showed out!" A wave of green could be seen throughout the capitol building. A proclamation was given commending the chapters on the work they have done throughout the years. At the luncheon, guest speakers spoke to what is being done to address health, education, social justice and other programs that can provide individuals a way out of a cycle of illness and poverty, e.g., human trafficking, COVID, women's health, and what South Carolina chapters can do in support state legislative efforts. At the end of the day ... we continue to be "Agents of Change --- Advocates of Action."
On November 11, 2022, we held an anniversary celebration for our fifth year as a chapter of The Links, Incorporated. What a celebration we had! Donned in black and wearing all lengths and sizes of pearls, we recommitted ourselves to what it means to be a member of The Links, Incorporated ... SERVICE and FRIENDSHIP. We are already planning our tenth anniversary!
