The Arts facet held a poster contest during the Black Family Wellness Expo in Hilton Head, SC. The Expo was held on March 15, 2025 at Shelter Cove. The poster contest was held to encourage creativity and self expression through art for public school students in 6-8th grade in Hilton Head and Bluffton. The theme, "what does a healthy community look like to you", received 42 entries. Our 1st place winner was Elana Kane of Bluffton (see her art piece on the left), 2 second place winners Bayron Geuvany and Kayley MeLanson of Bluffton, and our 3rd place winner Luz Xarica-Teodoro, of Hilton Head. Each winner received a gift card from Amazon and a certificate of appreciation. We hosted a People's Choice award during the Expo, where attendees of the Expo voted on their favorite poster. That giftcard and certificate will go to an unnamed student in Bluffton. The Arts committee plans to host a yearly poster contest during the annual Black Family Wellness Expo.
