The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated held our monthly business meeting on February 14, 2021, once again using Zoom.

Links and their families enjoying the holidays during the pandemic.
The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated had a different but fun holiday celebration. Membership Committee members, Gale Brown and Andrea Grant- Guess as hosts introduced “Oprah’s Favorite Things” with suggested snacks, refreshments, and holiday attire. The sisterly and unique items shared were received with glee.  The highlight was this year’s virtual viewing of member Darcel Werts’ Christmas Village. Traditionally, we have physically viewed this awesome display; however, though downsized, it was still amazing. We look forward to returning to a somewhat normal 2021.

Member Darcel Werts wrote special notes about the display.

Christmas Village

Over the last 23 years this Christmas Village has brought me such joy during the holidays. The village has grown as I have acquired new pieces, some from family and some from friends.  My display contains porcelain village buildings from Dept 56, Dickens, Lemax, Annie Lee and others that are hand painted and sculpted.  I have incorporated many scenes with towns, churches, schools, farms, mountains with ski slopes and diversed figurines and accessories in addition to our son’s Matchbox car collection. I’ve also included a water scene with a bridge and several lighthouses which reminds me of Hilton Head. With Covid this year, I ‘ve downsized the village and placed it in a different location.  I look forward to next year when I can expand it back to its original form and one can experience it even more.  During the holiday season, the village becomes a focal point as we listen to Christmas music and reflect on our blessings (and enjoy a glass of cheer).

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year!

The Hilton Head (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated delivered pizzas to our Bluffton Finest Police Officers. The surprising random act of kindness was well received. Covid-19 has certainly changed things, as we could not enter the building and quick photos were taken.
